Yes folks, it's true, the first time was back in 1998, and then the patronage was renewed for a second time to extend it for a further term. We all know how busy he is and how many commitments he has, so we appreciate that for him to bestow this accolade is a great honour for us. Prince Charles has long been known as the Goons' most famous fan and we are pleased to welcome him into the Society. As mentioned in previous Newsletters, he has already received a video of goodies and we will keep him informed of the latest Goon developments as and when things appear. This will involve in future the sending of Newsletters to His Royal Highness, amongst other things, and the Editor is looking forward to complete future diplomatic immunity. And a spare set of CD Plates… Seriously, though, folks, this really is a great honour and puts us in another league. Still the same loveable Society but with added prestige - and a royal crest no less! We would like to thank Prince Charles for agreeing to be our Patron and look forward to the coming years with trembling socks.

The Press had a field day. But, what was it that Jonathan was trying to read out? It was a special letter from HRH himself but as the reading was so abruptly shattered with Spike's famous interlude, we never got to hear it, so for posterity, here it is;
