Brian Powdrill was born in Hull, East Yorkshire in 1946. Although he had a very happy childhood in Hull, it was his time spent in Fulham, London he enjoyed the most. His sister lived in London and from a very early age he would spend time there. His school holidays and holidays during his youth were always taken in Fulham. Like many of his generation he was brought up during that golden age of British radio comedy. It was during one of his school holidays in London, as a young lad, when he first started listening to those comedy shows on the radio. Of some of the many marvellous shows around at that time such as; Hancock's Half Hour, Take it From Here, Life of Bliss, Ray's a Laugh, and The Al Reed Show, it was the 'Goon Show' which was and still remains a particular favourite. In 1989, after many years service in both ships and submarines, he retired from the Royal Navy. He now lives, with his wife Marilyn and son James, in the Yorkshire village of Cranswick, where his time is happily dedicated to his family. It was for his young Grandchildren he wrote this story.
Addendum:
"I am deeply indebted to the GSPS in allowing me to become a member and welcoming me into their arms at the recent London Meeting, in particular the wonderful Les Drew for all his help and support (I shall wear it always…) and the effervescent John Repsch for announcing me so enthusiastically"
